Contention Commission at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour (hereinafter – the Commission) is located in Gedimino str. 60, Vilnius, Lithuania.
The Commission consists of seven members, one of whom is the Chairman of the Commission.
The Commission is the pre-trial litigation authority that deals with disputes between individuals, pension or benefit paying institutions and the Disability and Working Capacity Assesment Office at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania ( hereinafter – DWCAO). Main aims of the Contention Commission are: to participate in the implementation of social integration policies; to deal and determine disputes between individuals, pension or benefit paying institutions and DWCAO; to submit proposals to the Ministry of Social Security and Labour on disability and working capacity assessment level system development.
Through its activities, the Commission is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Lithuania Law on the Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities, as well as other laws, orders of Minister of Social Security and Labour and Minister of Health, regulations of the Contention Commission and other legislations
Members of the Commission in dealing with complaints (applications), guided by respect for human rights, justice, fairness and reasonableness.
The complaint on the decision of the DWCAO may be filed not later than 30 days after the written decision of the Office’s receipt. Decision of the Contention Commission’s may be appealed to the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court within 20 days of its receipt.
